Modern Slavery Statement (Policy)
Guiding Future Champs
Organisation
This statement applies to Guiding Future Champs (referred to in this statement as “the Organisation”). Guiding Future Champs is a small start-up business led by two directors. At the time of publication, the Organisation does not employ any staff and does not anticipate employing staff for at least the next 12 months.
Organisational Structure and Activities
Guiding Future Champs is an independently owned social enterprise providing schools-based sports engagement, mentoring, and development support services. The Organisation works with primary and secondary schools to deliver inclusive physical activity events and inspirational assemblies, led by elite athletes and positive role models, designed to promote physical wellbeing, confidence, resilience, and personal development among young people. The Organisation operates on a small scale and is service-based in nature.
The business is managed directly by the two directors, who oversee all operational, strategic, and commercial activities. The Organisation does not operate from physical premises and does not maintain multiple offices or branches.
All activities are carried out primarily within the United Kingdom. The Organisation does not operate in sectors commonly associated with a high risk of modern slavery or human trafficking. Demand for services is not seasonal.
Definitions
The Organisation considers that modern slavery encompasses:
Human trafficking
Forced work, through mental or physical threat
Being owned or controlled by an employer through mental or physical abuse or the threat of abuse
Being dehumanised, treated as a commodity, or being bought or sold as property
Being physically constrained or having restrictions placed on freedom of movement
Commitment
Guiding Future Champs acknowledges its responsibility to help prevent modern slavery and human trafficking and is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships.
The Organisation commits to complying with the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and recognises that preventing modern slavery requires ongoing awareness and proportionate action, appropriate to the size and nature of the business.
The Organisation does not knowingly engage with any organisation, in the United Kingdom or elsewhere, that supports or is found to be involved in slavery, servitude, forced labour, or human trafficking.
No labour provided to the Organisation in the delivery of its services is obtained by means of slavery or human trafficking.
Supply Chains
Due to its size and business model, the Organisation has a limited and straightforward supply chain, which may include:
Professional advisers and consultants
Digital, software, and technology service providers
Training, learning, or administrative service suppliers
Event-related service providers (e.g. equipment or venue support where required).
The Organisation does not have any agreements with trade unions.
Potential Exposure and Risk Assessment
The Organisation considers its exposure to the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking to be low, given:
Its service-based activities
The absence of employees
Limited reliance on third-party suppliers
Operations primarily within the United Kingdom
The Organisation’s activities are delivered directly by the directors or trusted service providers, further reducing exposure to labour-related risks.
Despite the low risk, the Organisation remains aware of its responsibilities and takes reasonable steps to ensure that modern slavery does not occur within its business or supply chains.
Steps Taken
In line with section 54(4) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, the Organisation takes proportionate steps to reduce the risk of modern slavery, including:
Engaging only with reputable suppliers and service providers
Maintaining clear contractual and working arrangements
Monitoring supplier relationships where appropriate
Encouraging openness and the reporting of concerns
The Organisation has not, to its knowledge, been involved in any business relationship where modern slavery has been identified.
Key Performance Indicators
Given the size and low-risk nature of the Organisation, formal key performance indicators are not currently in place.
Effectiveness is monitored through:
Periodic review of supplier relationships
Ongoing oversight by the directors
Annual review of this statement
Policies
The Organisation’s commitment to ethical working practices is supported by appropriate internal procedures and director oversight. As the Organisation grows, additional formal policies may be introduced where appropriate.
Training
Due to the absence of employees, no formal modern slavery training is currently provided. Awareness of ethical, legal, and safeguarding-related responsibilities is maintained at director level and will be reviewed should the Organisation expand or begin employing staff.
Responsibility and Reporting
The Organisation does not currently have a designated Slavery Compliance Officer.
Any concerns relating to modern slavery or human trafficking should be raised directly with one of the directors, who will take appropriate action in line with the Organisation’s obligations.
Approval and Review
This statement is made in pursuance of Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and will be reviewed annually or as the Organisation grows.
